Dee & Dan, a powerful new short film, debuts today as the first production in the In the Light film series from 24/364, a cultural brand driving awareness, connection, and action to help keep rare diseases at the forefront of health and social conversation. The documentary offers an unfiltered, deeply human look at a day in the life of a person living with Niemann-Pick disease, a rare, progressive genetic disorder that impairs the body’s lipid metabolism, leading to severe neurological and systemic complications.

24/364 In The Light (Ep. 1): Dee & Dan
The film follows a typical day with Dee Reynolds and her spouse and caregiver, Dan Reynolds, as they navigate the realities of managing progressive symptoms, coordinating care, and confronting the emotional weight of uncertainty. Niemann-Pick disease is part of a group of rare diseases known as lysosomal storage disorders. It remains significantly under-recognized, with limited treatment options and no widely accessible cure. Through quiet, candid moments, the film reveals a life defined not just by limitations, but by resilience, connection, and determination.
“By sharing their story, Dee and Dan are moving hearts and minds and building awareness for Niemann-Pick disease and rare diseases in general,” said Laurie Turner, President, LT Consulting, and a specialist in rare disease patient advocacy. “They remind us that behind every rare disease is a person, a family, and a community in need of visibility, understanding, and progress.”
Dee & Dan is now available to view for free, with additional screenings planned for film festivals and special events in the future. The film underscores a critical reality: while rare diseases individually affect small populations, collectively they impact hundreds of millions of people worldwide, many of whom face delays in diagnosis, fragmented care, and limited therapeutic options.
Dee & Dan was produced in partnership with award-winning documentary team Take Care Productions and director Jon Siskel. The film was produced and underwritten by CG Life, a specialized pharma agency built to address the unique challenges of bringing therapies for rare and hard-to-treat diseases to market.
“Too often, rare diseases are reduced to unmet needs and clinical descriptions,” said John Condne, Producer and Owner, Take Care Productions. “With Dee & Dan, we wanted to center their lived experience and highlight the courage, complexity, and humanity behind a later-in-life diagnosis of Niemann-Pick disease.”
“Dee & Dan transcends traditional medical storytelling, presenting a vivid, personal narrative that underscores our shared humanity with those living with a rare disease,” said David Ormesher, CEO, CG Life. “While every patient story is different, by bringing one family’s story to the forefront, we seek to raise awareness, inspire empathy, and encourage greater investment in research, diagnosis, and patient support.”
This film is the first in a planned series of intimate profiles of individuals and families affected by rare diseases from 24/364. A second installment of the In the Light series went into production this month and is expected to be released later this year.
